Rehab for Veterans

A Familiar Story

“I had no other option but to admit I needed assistance getting my life back in order… to regain control, manageability and self-worth”

“I have been battling with mental health, PTSD, anxiety, depression and substance abuse for 25 years. I served with the ADF and Queensland Fire and Rescue Service and found it difficult to readjust to civilian life. I struggled with home and family life, relationship issues with my kids and spouse and connection with people in general. I overreacted to ‘trivial’ things and placed no importance on important issues (bills, family, health etc). I had an extremely negative opinion of myself, felt worthless, unwanted, and unloved.”

DVA-Funding Eligible Conditions

Nearly 75% of ADF members qualify for DVA-funded recovery programs due to living with an eligible health condition.

Anxiety, alcohol disorders, and PTSD are common challenges faced by many veterans. In fact, one-quarter of transitioned ADF members have reported experiencing post-traumatic stress. Fortunately, DVA-funded rehabilitation programs are available to support veterans struggling with these conditions.

Palladium Private's Veteran-Informed Rehab Peer Support

How can we help veterans in recovery?

Life outside of service can be hard.
We offer unique support from those who understand.

Designed to address a diverse array of mental health and addiction challenges, Palladium Private’s program can provide an empathic and equipped environment for veterans to heal and rebuild their lives. After years of working with veterans, we have developed a deep understanding of their unique recovery needs and as such, have collaborated with ADF lived-experience mentors and facilitators to customise elements of our program to be able to offer informed, industry-leading support.

Unlike traditional veteran-only rehabilitation programs, the Palladium Private veteran-informed program sees veterans journey alongside individuals from all backgrounds, not solely defence, helping to encourage connection and establish a sense of community.

We are committed to supporting veterans through their DVA funding application process for treatment in our program. Whilst DVA approval cannot be guaranteed, our dedicated team provides guidance and support to help streamline the experience, allowing you to focus on recovery and preparing for your stay.

Whilst a nationally accredited mental health and addiction treatment centre, Palladium Private specialises in providing exceptional patient-centred clinical care that balances evidence-based therapies with empathy-led professional support in a natural retreat-like hinterland environment – a welcomed alternative to more traditional hospital settings.

Believing in the therapeutic value of connection and having witnessed the acceptance and empowerment that comes with recovering alongside individuals on similar journeys but with wide ranging backgrounds and stories, Palladium Private follows a modified Therapeutic Community (TC) model of care. We offer a supportive and safe environment where your comfort is prioritised and your needs are met, allowing you to fully engage in your treatment.

Palladium Private’s program has been carefully designed to help clients in understanding the root cause of their condition and provide real tools for a sustainable recovery. The invaluable addition of lived-experience professionals who understand the unique challenges faced by veterans, offers further support to those who have served in regaining a sense of autonomy, personal identity, and place in community, reinforced by enjoyable recreational reintegration excursions throughout their stay.

A Testimonial

From One Veteran To Another
"With the encouragement of my former partner and kids I tried multiple clinical and non-clinical treatment centres all of whom promised me they catered for veterans and first responders with staff who were ex-serving themselves. All of these proved to be false. I withdrew and isolated for many years ... falling deeper into depression and using more and more substances to suppress my trauma and numb my pain. I was on the verge of giving up again. Then a very dear friend, a brother, suggested I look a Palladium Private.
To say I was sceptical is an understatement! A holistic rehabilitation facility set in a scenic, natural environment with a veteran program in place and committed, dedicated ex-serving staff members?? ... 'yeah right' I thought. I had been sung this song many times before. My doubts however were short lived as upon arrival I was greeted warmly by an ex-serving staff member who heads up the veteran side of the program, shown around the beautiful, natural surrounds and taken to my cabin which was comfortable, had my own space and surrounded by the natural environment. Access to the 2 pools, gym, steam room and ponds were a welcome bonus. All the other staff and the residents themselves were nothing short of incredibly supportive and welcoming.
The daily program (including the veteran's day that is scheduled weekly) is well thought out and facilitated and the lessons, therapists and PT sessions are appropriate, easy to connect to with a level of care, compassion and understanding I had not experienced before and did not think existed. I have made more progress, gained a better understanding off myself and learnt more tools and strategies here to apply and enhance my life moving forward. If you are looking to improve your quality of life, gain positive, healthy connections and habits and gain beneficial tools and techniques you can apply moving into the future I highly recommend Palladium Private!"
